Alexa — 31m Phinisi Charter, Raja Ampat

Charter Alexa, a 31m phinisi for just two guests, in Raja Ampat. Rates, seasons, itinerary and diving — planned end-to-end by Komodo Luxury concierge.

Alexa is a 31-metre phinisi built for exactly two guests — the smallest-capacity yacht on our Raja Ampat charter list, built around a single couple. Launched in 2013 by Dream Boat Builders Indonesia, she charters on a price-on-application basis, with the whole vessel, her crew and the itinerary arranged around one charter party of two. For honeymooners and couples who want Raja Ampat completely to themselves, nothing else in the fleet is shaped like this.

A 31-metre yacht, a full crew, and a party of two

Most charter yachts are exercises in fitting people aboard gracefully. Alexa runs the equation in reverse. Take the twin-masted silhouette of a traditional Indonesian phinisi — the same ironwood-and-sail lineage that has carried trade across the archipelago for generations — and dedicate every metre of her 31-metre length to two people. The result feels less like a boat and more like a private island that happens to move: deck space that would normally serve a dozen guests becomes your reading corner at ten in the morning and your dinner table under the mast at night, set for two.

That inversion changes how a Raja Ampat week actually unfolds. There is no group to consult, no schedule built around the slowest riser. If the light over Piaynemo looks perfect at six in the morning, the tender goes at six. If you would rather drift another hour over a reef than move to the next anchorage, the itinerary bends. The crew’s entire working day is calibrated to the rhythm of one couple, which is a kind of service that even much larger yachts, divided among more guests, cannot replicate.

Alexa sails Raja Ampat as part of the partner fleet network coordinated by Komodo Luxury, established 2015, whose Bali-based concierge team has planned voyages across Indonesia for guests from more than 45 countries. Their role with a yacht like this is quiet but decisive: matching her romance-first character to the right season, the right route and the right pace, then handling Sorong airport pickup, marine park permits and provisioning so the two of you only have to arrive.

Seasons and rates: when should you book Alexa?

Raja Ampat’s prime charter window runs October to April, when seas are calmest and visibility on the reefs is at its best; the islands remain charterable year-round, with quieter anchorages and softer rates in the low season. Across the wider fleet, many vessels reposition to Komodo for May–October, so Raja Ampat slots concentrate into that October–April window and the best dates go early.

Alexa’s rate is on application — couples’ charters are quoted to the dates, route and level of provisioning you want. For context, published weekly rates in the 30–31 metre bracket of our Raja Ampat list run from $21,000 to $90,000 per week plus expenses, and a quote for Alexa is framed the same way: a base charter fee, then expenses such as fuel, park and village fees and premium provisioning itemised transparently at booking. Expect a 10–20% premium over Christmas, New Year and the December–March peak, and plan on reserving 9–12 months ahead for peak dates — 2027 calendars are already filling. Rates verified August 2026. Why charter Alexa in Raja Ampat?

  • True privacy, not shared privacy. Two guests, one yacht. No other charter party, no cabin neighbours, no compromise itinerary.
  • A phinisi’s romance with a couple’s freedom. The traditional two-masted profile photographs beautifully against Wayag’s karst towers — and every sunset on deck is yours alone.
  • Crew attention impossible to buy on larger yachts. The full complement of crew serves one couple’s preferences, from dive timing to dinner hour.
  • Concierge-planned from Bali to the Bird’s Head. Flights into Sorong, permits, provisioning and dive guiding are arranged end-to-end before you board.
  • Honeymoon logic. For a once-in-a-marriage trip, a whole yacht for two is the difference between a beautiful cruise and a private world.

A suggested week aboard Alexa

For couples, we usually chart a 7-night northern route: board in Sorong, cross the Dampier Strait to Arborek and the manta cleaning stations — the Sorong-to-Arborek leg is roughly 53 nautical miles, around eight hours of easy steaming — then work through Cape Kri and Sardine Reef before the hard-coral gardens of the Fam group, the Piaynemo lookout climb, and two unhurried days in Wayag’s lagoon maze at the top of the archipelago. The return runs through The Passage, the river-like channel between Waigeo and Gam, timed for golden light. The full day-by-day version is on our northern loop itinerary; slower or longer variations are easy to build, because with two guests there is nobody else’s schedule to honour.

Diving and days in the water

Raja Ampat sits at the centre of the Bird’s Head Seascape, where scientific surveys have recorded more than 1,700 fish species and 550 coral species — the richest reefs on the planet. Chartering as a couple means diving them at your own standard: a private guide, sites timed for slack current, and no queue at the tender. Highlights on the northern route include Cape Kri’s swirling schools, the manta stations off Arborek, and Melissa’s Garden, a hard-coral plateau in the Fam Islands that many guests rank as the most beautiful shallow reef they have ever seen. Non-divers lose little: snorkelling over the same reefs, kayaking the lagoons, village visits and empty-beach picnics fill a week effortlessly. Marine park entry (the PIN card, currently around IDR 700,000–1,000,000 per person per year — confirmed at booking) is arranged for you.

Questions guests ask about Alexa

Is Alexa really limited to two guests?

Yes. Alexa is listed for a maximum of two guests, which is precisely her point: she is a full-size 31-metre phinisi whose entire guest capacity is one couple. If your party is larger, our concierge will point you to comparable phinisi in the fleet — Si Datu Bua, for example, takes six guests in a similarly intimate format.

How much does Alexa cost to charter?

Her rate is on application and quoted to your dates and route. As a reference band, published 30–31 metre yachts on our Raja Ampat list charter from $21,000 to $90,000 per week plus expenses (rates verified August 2026). Send us your dates and we will return a firm, itemised quote.

When is the best time for a couples’ charter in Raja Ampat?

October to April for the calmest seas and best visibility. December to March carries a 10–20% peak premium; October–November and March–April often combine prime conditions with easier availability.

Do we need to be certified divers to enjoy Alexa?

No. Many couples charter her as a sail-and-snorkel honeymoon. If one or both of you dives — or wants to learn — private guiding is arranged; if not, the snorkelling in Raja Ampat’s shallows is world-class on its own.
