The route in one paragraph
The single decision that changes your first day is which of those two you board from — the overnight from Jakarta plus a Sorong departure gets you under way before lunch.

The Chain
Your home airport Jakarta, Bali, Makassar or Manado
Nothing international lands in Sorong, so every route connects somewhere in Indonesia first. Singapore and Kuala Lumpur are the usual Asian gateways into Jakarta.
Jakarta, Bali, Makassar or Manado Sorong (SOQ)
The overnight run out of Jakarta is the one most charters are built around — it lands at dawn, which leaves the whole first day usable.
SOQ airport Sorong marina or the ferry harbour
Taxi or Grab. Which one you want depends on whether your vessel is based in Sorong or in Waisai — that decision is on the Sorong page.
Sorong Waisai
Only if your vessel is based in Waisai. Boarding at Sorong marina skips this leg entirely and saves most of a day.
Flights
Schedules and fares move — treat these as the shape of what is available, and confirm before you book.
From Jakarta (CGK)
Direct overnight services by Garuda Indonesia, Batik Air and Lion Air, leaving around midnight and reaching Sorong at dawn. Roughly 4.5 hours. This is the connection to aim for.
From Bali (DPS)
One nonstop service, a morning departure arriving mid-afternoon — about 6 hours 45 minutes. Indicative fares USD 120–180 one way.
Connecting via Makassar, Jakarta or Manado
Garuda Indonesia, TransNusa and Batik Air. Total journey 5 to 9 hours depending on the layover.
International arrivals
No international flight lands in Sorong. Connect through Jakarta, Bali, Makassar or Manado; Singapore and Kuala Lumpur are the common Asian gateways.
Airlines serving SOQ
Garuda Indonesia, Lion Air, Batik Air, TransNusa and Sriwijaya Air, with several arrivals a day.
Arrival Day
The overnight from Jakarta puts you on the ground before breakfast. Domine Eduard Osok is a small airport — bags come off quickly.
Taxi or Grab to either Pelabuhan Rakyat Sorong marina or the ferry harbour. Both are roughly ten kilometres from the terminal.
Vessels based in Sorong board from around 10:00 to 12:00 and steam north overnight. If yours is in Waisai, the ferry sails at 14:00 daily, with an extra 09:00 run on Sundays.
You have missed the day's ferry. A night in Sorong is the usual answer — which is the strongest argument for a Sorong departure if your flight lands late.

Questions
No. Sorong (SOQ) is the nearest airport and it takes domestic flights only, so every route connects through Jakarta, Bali, Makassar or Manado first. From Sorong you continue by boat.
The overnight direct from Jakarta, if you can. It lands at dawn, which means you board the same morning instead of losing a night in Sorong. The nonstop from Bali arrives mid-afternoon and usually costs you a night ashore.
Only if your vessel is based there. Charters that board at Sorong marina skip the crossing entirely — ten minutes by road from the airport and you are aboard.
IDR 125,000 one way, roughly two hours. Daily at 14:00, with an additional 09:00 sailing on Sundays. Land after the 14:00 cutoff and you are staying in Sorong that night.
The marine park permit — IDR 1,700,000 per international visitor, valid twelve months — plus your flights and any transfers. The permit is per person and is never included in the charter fee.

We Handle This
An arrival after 14:00 changes the whole first day, and a Bali routing usually costs you a night in Sorong that a Jakarta routing does not. We would rather look at your dates before you book the flights than after.
