Charter W J Lip, a 22m Princess motor yacht (2012, refit 2021) for 8 guests in Raja Ampat from $40,000 per week + expenses. Rates verified August 2026.
W J Lip is a 22-metre Princess motor yacht, built in 2012 and refitted in 2021, chartering in Raja Ampat for up to 8 guests from $40,000 per week plus expenses (rates verified August 2026). The most compact yacht on our Raja Ampat fleet list, she is the archipelago’s agile option: quick between anchorages, easy in tight karst channels, and priced as one of the most accessible private motor-yacht charters in the region.

In a cruising ground famous for grand phinisi and expedition ships, W J Lip makes the case for travelling light. Built by Princess, the Plymouth yard whose motor yachts have defined polished British cruising for decades, she is the smallest vessel on our Raja Ampat fleet list, and that is precisely her advantage. The archipelago’s finest moments often hide in its narrowest places: the mushroom-stemmed islets of a Piaynemo side lagoon, the shallows off Arborek’s jetty, the winding blue corridor of The Passage between Waigeo and Gam. A 22-metre hull noses into all of it.
Her 2021 refit refreshed the interior and guest areas, so the boat presents far newer than her 2012 build year suggests. With eight guests aboard, she is tailor-made for a family or two couples travelling together: one table at dinner, one tender schedule, and an itinerary that changes the moment someone spots dolphins off the bow. The economics are equally friendly; at $40,000 per week she carries the lowest from-rate of any motor yacht on our Raja Ampat list, making a fully private charter possible at close to shared-cabin liveaboard spend for a full group of eight.
W J Lip charters through our concierge desk, operated by Komodo Luxury, part of Juara Holding Group, since 2015, with 800+ voyages across the network. From the moment you land at Sorong, our Bali team has the trip handled: airport pickup, marine park permits, provisioning, certified dive guides and a route adjusted daily to weather and wildlife.

The plus-expenses convention adds fuel, marine park and village fees and premium provisioning at cost; our Raja Ampat yacht charter cost guide details a typical week’s total. Peak dates over Christmas and New Year are reserved 9 to 12 months out.
W J Lip shines on a focused seven-night northern loop: embark Sorong, settle into the Dampier Strait for Arborek, Cape Kri and Sardine Reef, wait out the manta queue at Manta Sandy, snorkel Melissa’s Garden, then day-trip the Piaynemo lookouts and side lagoons her size lets her approach closely. The return runs The Passage, a river-like channel between jungle walls that might be her signature moment. The gateway leg from Sorong to Arborek measures about 53 nautical miles, and with the Dampier Strait as her home ground she spends the week where the density of sites is highest rather than in transit. Groups wanting Misool’s southern lagoons should review the southern loop itinerary with our planners, who will shape legs to the forecast.
Anchored in the Dampier Strait, W J Lip sits amid the densest concentration of world-ranked dive sites in Raja Ampat: Cape Kri’s record fish counts, Blue Magic’s oceanic mantas, Manta Sandy’s cleaning stations and Sardine Reef’s schooling walls, all drawn from a region logging 1,700+ fish species and 550+ corals in scientific surveys. Snorkellers get equal billing at Arborek’s jetty and Melissa’s Garden shallows, and surface afternoons fill with kayaking, village visits and birds-of-paradise walks on Gam. Our concierge provides certified dive guides and equipment and arranges the marine park entry fee (around IDR 700,000 to 1,000,000 per person per year; verified at booking).
W J Lip embarks at Sorong harbour on the Bird’s Head Peninsula. Jakarta is about four hours away by direct flight, with alternative routings via Makassar, Manado or Bali. Because her itineraries centre on the Dampier Strait, transfers are short: our team collects you at Sorong airport, and the first anchorage of the trip is within comfortable reach the same day. Where flight schedules suit, boarding at Waisai on Waigeo can be arranged instead.
All formalities run through our concierge: the Raja Ampat Marine Park entry PIN card for each guest, cruising and anchorage fees, and village contributions at community stops such as Arborek. Provisioning is completed before you land, dive guides and equipment are matched to your group, and the daily plan flexes around tides and sightings rather than paperwork. At the end of the charter, disembarkation is sequenced against your outbound Sorong flight.
From $40,000 per week plus expenses, the lowest motor-yacht from-rate on our Raja Ampat list, with a 10–20% premium from December to March. Rates verified August 2026; enquire for a firm quote on your dates.
Up to 8 guests. Cabin configuration is confirmed on enquiry; our planners will walk your group through the layout before you book.
Usually the opposite. The region’s most photographed corners, Piaynemo’s lagoons, The Passage, village house reefs, favour shallow draft and nimble handling. You trade interior volume for access, and in Raja Ampat access is the currency.
October to April is prime season; December to March is peak with a 10–20% premium and 9-to-12-month lead times. October, November and April deliver the same reefs with easier availability.
