Alila Purnama and Dunia Baru are two of the most recognised luxury phinisi in Raja Ampat, and the choice between them comes down to size and pricing transparency. Alila Purnama is 46 metres, takes up to 10 guests in 5 suites with a crew of 14–16, and quotes on application, with premium phinisi in her class typically running around $6,000–10,000 per night plus expenses. Dunia Baru is 51 metres, takes up to 14 guests in 7 cabins with a crew of 18, and charters from $130,000 per week in low season and $145,000 in high season plus expenses (rates verified August 2026). Choose Alila Purnama for a smaller, resort-polished charter with unlimited diving included; choose Dunia Baru for more berths, a faster hull and an all-inclusive dining and beverage model.
Raja Ampat Yacht Charter is a charter desk operated by Komodo Luxury, part of Juara Holding Group since 2015. We book both vessels through our partner fleet network rather than owning them. Every figure below is taken from published specifications; where nothing has been published we write “on application”.

What are the real differences between them?
How much does the four-berth gap matter?
More than the five-metre length difference suggests. Ten guests across five suites is a villa-party layout: two couples and a family, or a group of friends who all know each other. Fourteen guests across seven cabins is a different social shape, closer to two households travelling together, and it changes the arithmetic of a whole-vessel charter considerably. At full occupancy Dunia Baru’s low-season week works out near $9,300 per guest before expenses, a number Alila Purnama cannot match simply because there are four fewer people to divide by.
Which yacht handles the water better?
Dunia Baru, on the published numbers. Ten knots is quick for a wooden sailer, and in an archipelago where the run from Sorong to the Dampier Strait anchorages is a genuine passage, speed converts directly into hours at the reef rather than hours in transit. Alila Purnama does not publish a cruising speed, and her routings are built around the same 4-to-11-night formats from Sorong.
How does the diving compare?
Both are properly equipped, with a different emphasis. Alila Purnama is listed by her owner with an onboard dive centre, professional guides, Nitrox and equipment, and unlimited diving and snorkelling included in the charter — we ask the owner to confirm guide certifications and inclusions in writing for your dates. Dunia Baru runs unlimited diving with full equipment support, with nitrox, watersports gear and guide qualifications confirmed per departure. If your party mixes certified divers with beginners, both yachts can run parallel programmes; Dunia Baru simply has more crew to do it with.
What is included, and what is billed later?
This is where the two diverge most usefully. Dunia Baru folds fine dining and premium beverages into the charter, so the bar bill never arrives at the end of the week. Alila Purnama includes the dive programme. Neither includes the Raja Ampat Marine Park entry permit, currently around IDR 700,000–1,000,000 per person per year and confirmed at booking, nor fuel, cruising and anchorage fees. Our Raja Ampat charter cost guide explains exactly what “plus expenses” covers.
Who is each yacht right for?
Which is better for families?
Dunia Baru, for a family of more than ten or for two branches travelling together: seven cabins give each unit its own door, the master sits on the upper aft deck, and 18 crew make simultaneous dive, spa and shore programmes possible. Alila Purnama’s two convertible twins adapt neatly to children or siblings, which makes her the better fit for a single family of eight to ten.
Which is better for divers?
Close, with a tilt toward Dunia Baru for hard diving because of the faster hull and larger crew, and toward Alila Purnama for divers who value a dive programme with Nitrox and guides already priced in. Both reach the marquee sites: Cape Kri, Manta Sandy, Blue Magic, Melissa’s Garden in the Fam group and, on southern routings, Misool’s Magic Mountain.
Which is better for a honeymoon?
Alila Purnama. The Sriwijaya Master Suite has 180-degree wraparound glass and a private balcony over the water, and a ten-guest yacht with three decks, a library and alfresco lounges gives a couple more places to disappear to. Spa treatments aboard complete the case.
Which is better for a group or an expert-led trip?
Dunia Baru. Fourteen berths suit a group of friends or a milestone celebration, and expert-led themed voyages — marine biology, Indonesian textiles, photography — can be requested, subject to specialist availability on your dates.
Which Raja Ampat routes suit each yacht?
Both embark at Sorong and both suit the classic seven-night northern circuit: the Dampier Strait manta stations and reef walls, Arborek village, Melissa’s Garden at Penemu, the Piaynemo viewpoints, the Wayag karst and the return through The Passage. The day-by-day plan is on our northern loop itinerary.
For ten to twelve nights, Dunia Baru’s speed makes the combined north-and-south routing more comfortable, adding Misool’s pinnacle labyrinth at Balbulol and the southern reef systems. Alila Purnama runs 4-to-11-night formats and can push toward Misool or, on longer expedition briefs, toward Triton Bay and Kaimana in the October–April window. Compare every format on our Raja Ampat itineraries page.
Alila Purnama or Dunia Baru: the honest verdict
Choose Alila Purnama if your party is eight to ten, you want hotel-brand polish, an included unlimited dive programme, and the best master suite of the two, and you are comfortable working from a quote rather than a published rate.
Choose Dunia Baru if your party is eleven to fourteen, you want a published weekly rate you can budget against, an all-inclusive dining and beverage model, a faster hull that buys extra reef time, and the option of requesting an expert-led voyage. If neither shape fits your dates, the full Raja Ampat charter fleet lists more than thirty vessels across the network.
Frequently asked questions about Alila Purnama vs Dunia Baru

Dunia Baru, at 51 metres against Alila Purnama’s 46 metres, and the capacity gap is wider than the length gap: Dunia Baru takes up to 14 guests in 7 cabins with 18 crew, while Alila Purnama takes up to 10 guests in 5 suites with a crew of 14 to 16.
How much does each yacht cost to charter in Raja Ampat?
Dunia Baru charters from $130,000 per week in low season and $145,000 in high season, plus expenses. Alila Purnama’s rate is on application; premium phinisi in her class typically start from around $6,000–10,000 per night plus expenses. Rates verified August 2026, with a 10–20 percent premium on festive weeks.
Is diving included on both yachts?
Both are listed with unlimited diving. Alila Purnama’s owner lists an onboard dive centre with guides, Nitrox and equipment included; Dunia Baru is listed with unlimited diving, full equipment support and dining and beverages folded into the charter. We request written confirmation of guide certifications and inclusions for your dates before you pay.
When should we book for the 2027 season?
Nine to twelve months ahead for October–April departures. Manta activity peaks December to March and those weeks, along with Christmas and New Year, close first. Large phinisi typically rotate to Komodo from May to October, so each yacht’s Raja Ampat calendar is finite.
