Why A Liveaboard
Four to six hours each way from Waisai, or an overnight steam. Day-tripping it is not a thing — you would spend more time in transit than in the water.
A liveaboard puts you on the sites at first light and again at dusk, without a transit either side. That is the difference between two dives a day and four.
Southern sea state changes fast. A vessel already down there can move to the lee side; a day boat from Waisai simply cannot come.
Boo, Fiabacet, Magic Mountain and Daram are not clustered. Being anchored among them is what makes a four-dive day possible.
The Sites
Two limestone arches punched clean through the reef wall, shallow enough to shoot with the sun behind them. The photograph everyone comes south for.
A seamount with a manta cleaning station on top. Reef and oceanic mantas, plus sharks and jacks working the current. Best December to March.
A dense shallow coral garden over three pinnacles. Reef hooks earn their place here when the tide runs.
Deep wall in strong current — the most demanding diving in the south, and the least forgiving of poor buoyancy.
Pinnacles and overhangs where the larger pelagics pass — barracuda, jacks, and wobbegong sharks lying up under the ledges.
Getting There
Jakarta, Bali or Makassar Sorong (SOQ)
The same arrival as any Raja Ampat charter. Nothing international lands in Sorong.

Boarding in Sorong matters more for Misool than for anywhere else, because the steam south starts from here.
Sorong Misool
An overnight passage, usually with a stop in the Dampier Strait on the way. You wake up in the south.
Waisai Misool
The alternative if you are already in central Raja Ampat. Faster, but it is four to six hours each way out of your diving.
When To Go
The southern run is the most exposed water on any Raja Ampat itinerary, so sea state closes Misool before it closes anywhere else.

Questions
Two ways, and they are not the same journey. From Sorong it is a 19 to 22 hour steam aboard a liveaboard, done overnight. From Waisai it is four to six hours by speedboat. Both start with a flight to Sorong (SOQ).
Because the sites are hours from anywhere and spread out once you arrive. Anchored among them you dive four times a day; coming from Waisai you spend eight to twelve hours of the day in transit for two dives.
Ten, realistically, if you also want the Dampier Strait. Seven can be done but the southern leg eats two of them. Four nights is a central-Raja-Ampat trip and Misool does not belong in it.
Soft coral, limestone arches and walls, from three metres down to seventy at Daram. More current than the north and more colour than almost anywhere. Magic Mountain is the southern manta station, best December to March.
October to April. The southern run is the most exposed water on any Raja Ampat itinerary, so sea state matters more here than in the Dampier Strait — July through September the crossing is often not worth attempting.
